Terms of Service

1. What Lyfos is

Lyfos ("Lyfos", "we", "us") provides a local-first, client-encrypted personal vault and balance-sheet application accessible at lyfos.signorvale.com and related domains (the "Service"). The Service is designed so that data you create stays on your device, encrypted with a key only you control.

During the Beta period (see the Beta Disclaimer), the Service is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial evaluation.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your data, your key

The Service encrypts your vault contents on your device using a passphrase you choose and (during the Beta) stores the encrypted blob in your browser's local storage. We do not have access to your passphrase, your derived encryption key, or the plaintext contents of your vault.

If you forget your passphrase and lose your recovery key, your data cannot be recovered. We cannot help you recover it. You are responsible for keeping the passphrase and recovery key safe.

4. The Release plan is not yet a service

The Service includes a feature called "Release plan" which lets you document a nominee and trusted key holders. During the Beta period, this is a local planning tool only:

• Lyfos does not contact your nominee or key holders.
• Lyfos does not run a 14-day owner hold or any release timer.
• Lyfos does not deliver any data to anyone in the event of your death or incapacity.

You should not rely on the Release plan feature to provide actual emergency access until a live release service is announced and explicitly activated. To make sure your nominee can recover information during the Beta, share the necessary details with them yourself (for example, in a sealed envelope kept in a safe).

5. No warranty

The Service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Without limiting the above:

• We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
• We do not guarantee that data stored locally will survive clearing browser data, device loss, OS reinstall, or other circumstances outside our control.
• We do not guarantee that the cryptographic primitives used by the Service are free of as-yet-undiscovered vulnerabilities.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lyfos shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amounts paid by you to Lyfos for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, which during the Beta is zero.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to store content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
• Use the Service to facilitate fraud, identity theft, or unauthorised access to anyone else's accounts.
• Attempt to disrupt the Service or its users.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email if we have one for you. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, India, except where applicable consumer protection laws in your country of residence grant you stronger rights.
